Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
