Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The narrative presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Bonus Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana together with numerous items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
